2026 Clay Shoot & Oil Patch Pit King Challenge

This annual event takes place at Jake's Clays in Midland and features a morning clay shoot followed by a delicious cook-off lunch. PBPA's Clay Shoot is a great way to meet fellow industry leaders or treat your team to a day of fun and fellowship.
Not a shooter? Show off your skills by entering the Oil Patch Pit King Challenge and serving up your best pit delicacies at the event for a chance to be named this year's Pit King.
Event Schedule:
- 8:30 AM: Registration
- 9:00 AM: Shotgun Start
- 11:15 AM: Pit King Contestants Begin Serv (Registered Shooters are judges, judging begins!)
- 1:00 PM: Awards Presented! Must be present to win.
- 1:30 PM: 2026 Oil Patch Pit Kings Announced

Individual - $300 | Team of 4 - $1,000
Registration includes breakfast, lunch, refreshments, merch items, and entry for some great raffle prizes, including guns!
Awards will be given for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place teams & HOA
Shells are NOT provided; participants must bring their own.

Oil Patch Pit King Challenge
Show off your culinary skills by entering the Oil Patch Pit King Challenge and serve up your best pit delicacies at the event for a chance to be named this year's Pit King.
The Pit King Challenge is an Open Grill competition judged by all registered shooters. Having an Open Grill, the sky is the limit! However, we encourage competitors to bring their “A” game and expect stiff competition.
Finalists receive:
- 1st Place: Traveling Trophy, Pit King Aprons, $500 & Bragging Rights
- 2nd Place: $300
- 3rd Place: $200
