Avalon Shale:
The Avalon Shale is used son ominously with the Leonard & is part of the Bone Springs formations. Discovered recently, it consists of oil, natural gas and gas. The depths of this shale range from 6,500-9,000 feet consisting of sandstone zones that are separated by shale deposits. The Avalon-Leonard shale located across various parts of southern Eddy & Lea counties in New Mexico.
